COURSE ADMINISTRATOR Mr Tristram Johnson

|
|
Our course caters for young people that have an interest in music production, music technology and music performance. This includes production, sound engineering and vocal performance (singing). The course is facilitated through Access through Music and accredited by UK Rock School.
We focus is working with youths who have failed to engage in / been failed by the normal educational process or are from difficult backgrounds. We will use music as an instrument to develop the potential of young people with lack of vision and direction. Everyone loves music, and in our society the use of music to empower young minds is ever increasing. It's a fantastic way to challenge and develop young people in a format that's enjoyable to all.
The more subtle benefits such as increased computer literacy and numeracy are presented in such a way that often the students are learning without realising! The results have been astounding and I truly hope that this course will benefit the lives of many young people in our community.
1. We offer one to one tuition in the following fields; Music technology, music production, vocal performance and sound engineering.
Working on a one to one basis has proved to be the most effective model. It helps foster quality relationships, and develop self confidence.
2. The tuition is given by a professional vocal coach, producer and sound engineer.
We have found that those best to staff our programs have a balance of musical expertise together with a passion for youth development.
3. Our courses are tailored to the individual students.
The ability, skills and experience of the student are all considered, before setting attainable goals which create structure, meaning and purpose. This in turn gives students the opportunity to taste success, gain recognition and achieve. This results in inspired pupils with a stronger sense of their personal talent, ability and potential.
4 .Our courses are run in a safe secure and positive environment, away from peers and social pressure.
Our studio facilities are a sanctuary for development using music as a tool. We have found students respond well to being in a new, inviting, warm and professional environment away from constant pressure and negative influence.
5. We encourage and nurture raw talent.
Students are often filled with negative emotions and use their creativity and energy in a destructive way. We seek to refocus that creativity in a positive direction. Student's abilities are stretched and encouraged and their confidence builds, as their talent improves.
6. Mentoring and guidance is offered from unbiased, positive and mature role models.
We look at the potential not the past, no matter what background our students are from. We understand the importance of praise and encouragement particularly with young people who sufferer from lack of positive nurturing.
7. Professional audio software and multi-track recording system
We use the latest professional software along with Apple Computer G5 technology. This ensures our students are developing their skills using professional products and working to recognised music industry standards.
I would like to thank you for your studios hard work and commitment for the year 2004/2005. Tower Hamlets PRU is really pleased with the outcomes from using your studio. I felt that the work towards the GCSE Music syllabus was outstanding and that you follow the criteria very well and met all aspects of the course. By having access to a professional studio, it allowed our students to gain a grade "B" in the practical side of the GCSE Music Course. Having Mr Johnson direct was brilliant, due to his great understanding of music and his good nature with young people. Ms Campbell is a very good voice coach that brought the best out of the students. Her professionalism is outstanding.
The Third dimension has been very accommodating and kind and it has been an honour to be able to use such a professional studio, and we will certainly be using it again. -
